If you wait, it’s too late! Reading matters. Every age. Every Stage.
Readaloud.org joins the American Academy of Pediatrics in urging parents and caregivers to read aloud to babies and young children for at least 15 minutes every day.
The research makes it clear that books promote brain development, and the ages from birth to three years are crucial. Other benefits include language development, literacy building, and a love of reading.
Yet, according to the non-profit, only “48% of young children are read to each day.”
So grab a kiddo and a good book, and cuddle up for 15 minutes of daily reading time. The love you instill in your young reader will last a lifetime and also have long term benefits related to not only their academic success, but indeed to their overall happiness, well beyond their early years.

March is Read Aloud Month. Here are “5 Great Reasons to Read Aloud!”
By reading aloud just 15 minutes a day, you are “feeding” your child’s brain by building vocabulary and life-long literacy skills. And remember, it doesn’t have to be 15 minutes in a row, and you don’t have to finish the book!
You will be creating a lifetime interest in reading that will help them in all areas of their education, as well as social and emotional development. Pick up a book and #Read!
A group of 30 men and women from the Rotary Club of Traverse Bay Twilight in Traverse City have built a program that reaches parents of newborn babies which is making a lifetime of difference for the children of their region. Born to Read is the signature project of the Rotary Club of Traverse Bay Twilight in Traverse City, Michigan. Its mission is to promote early literacy by spreading the word about the importance of reading, talking, and singing with children every day starting from birth.
